Patient Notice

Hay-fever is a common allergic condition that affects around 1 in 5 people in the UK.

The Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in Worcestershire who are responsible  for healthcare investment and they have determined they no longer support the prescribing of hay fever treatments on the NHS. If hay fever treatment is needed a wide range of medication can be purchased over the counter.

If you are a patient at our practice you can register for the  NHS App, a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.

You can use the NHS App to check your symptoms and get instant advice, book appointments, order repeat prescriptions, view your GP medical record and more.

Needles (sharps disposal)

 

Where a person treats themselves in their home, it is their responsibility to dispose of any clinical waste in a responsible way.  This should be by using a sharps bin and taking this to a disposal point. Sharps bins larger than 1 litre will not normally be accepted at participating disposal points.

 

Sharps bins are plastic containers designed for the safe disposal of hazardous waste. Sharps bins are available on prescription from your doctor.  They can take needles, empty syringes, empty insulin cartridges and lancets.  Some patients use ‘B-D safe clip' devices to remove the needle from the syringe.  This does not need to be done if the needle and syringe are put straight into the sharps bin.

 

Where patients are prescribed sharps boxes by their GP they can take the full boxes back to their GP for disposal provided the practice is registered with the Environment Agency to accept this wasteSpa and Salters practices are registered to accept waste.   Sharps disposal points are listed below.

Patient Notice

Please note due to a recent drug recall for ranitidine products, we have been informed that oral ranitidine preparations are not available at present. Your repeat prescription has been changed to omeprazole/lansoprazole/esomeprazole for you to order when your medicines are next due.

Please speak to your local pharmacy team for further information regarding the recall.  (October 2019)

Patient Notice

Please note as of March 2019 the practice cannot accept the reason for booking any appointment, telephone consultation or home visit as/or along the lines of 'personal, private or the doctor knows'. This is a decision that has been made by the partners at the Spa Medical Practice and is promoted on our telephone system message by Dr Kinsman. 

Please be reassured all practice staff are bound by strict confidentiality guidelines and this has decision has been implemented by the partners to ensure patients receive the most appropriate care.  (March 2019)

Press 1 for Immediate medical attention  

Press 2 for Home Visits

Press 3 for Appointments - the automated booking system is also available for booking, cancelling and checking appointments 24 hours a day. 

Press 4 for Prescription queries and test results.

Please note, the practice does not utilise, promote, engage with, or otherwise have any dealings with Pharmacy 2 U, and, furthermore has not given, nor has been asked, for consent for the practice name to appear on any advertising material. 

We are proud to launch our Neighbourhood Social Prescriber Service in Droitwich & Ombersley

On side are delighted to be working in partnership with Spa Medical Practice to deliver the exciting new Neighbourhood Social Prescribing service.

Social Prescribing recognises that many of life’s problems can make you unwell or make health conditions harder to deal with. Medical interventions and treatment may only be part of the solution. 

Social Prescribing can provide other options by linking patients with sources of support within the community to improve their health and wellbeing.   

The Social Prescriber will work with patients to explore what is important to them and what are the issues, difficulties and challenges they face. They can then support the patient to access services and activities in their local community. 

This can include a wide range of options, for example, advice and information on housing, finance and benefits support in to education and learning, healthy lifestyle advice and social activities and mentoring.

Patients can speak to their GP or another member of the practice team to get a referral to the Neighbourhood Social Prescriber

More Nurse appointments made available for our patients

To improve how accessible we are to our patients we regularly review our appointment availability. 

As a result we have now made available each month ADDITIONAL EVENING and SATURDAY MORNING appointments with our Practice Nurses making us more accessible to our working patients. 

Appointments for blood tests and NHS Healthchecks continue to be available every Saturday morning from 8 a.m.     (February 2018)

In a survey carried out with our patients in January 2020:

   78% of our patients said they were EXTREMELY LIKELY to recommend us to their Friends and Family

   14% said they were LIKELY to recommend us.

Do you have musculo-skeletal pain?  A GP appointment is NOT required if you want to ask for a Physiotherapist appointment?

Droitwich patients can directly self-refer to the local Physiotherapy Team for help with their musculo-skeletal condition.  Here is a information leaflet Self refer to physio leaflet

Healthy Improvement

Wychavon District Council in partnership with Worcestershire County Council have developed a Health and Wellbeing Plan for the district. The aim is to promote, encourage and support partners to deliver programmes that contribute to healthier lifestyles in the Wychavon area.
